Car ferry (probably stupid) question.? Car ferry (probably stupid) question.? So I just moved to a new state/area with car ferries, or whatever they are called, to get to some towns/cities on some islands. No ferries where I previously lived. I'm guessing this is a stupid question seeing as how Google didn't produce a clear answer for me. So, how do they work? Just drive onto them and enjoy the ride? Is it free? Is there a fee? If I'm going for sightseeing purposes is there a parking lot to leave my vehicle and ride the ferry on foot? Do I need to purchase a round-trip or does it work similar to city transit (buses, subway etc.)? I moved to the Puget Sound region in Washington state. car insurance. Volkswagen . How to Convert HID Xenon HeadlightsIf your dissatisfied with the brightness of the factory-installed halogen headlights on your vehicle, you may want to convert your headlight assemblies to High Intensity Discharge (HID) Xenon bulbs. HID Xenon headlights put out more lumens than halogens and last longer. Converting to HID Xenon headlights is a simple and straightforward procedure that can be performed in less than half an hour. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need HID Xenon headlight kit Step by Step : 1 Turn off your car and prop open the hood. 2 Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the headlight unit. 3 Remove the halogen bulb from inside the headlight unit. 4 Connect the wiring harness you removed earlier to the ballast that comes with the HID Xenon headlight kit. 5 Connect the HID Xenon headlight bulb to the connector on the ballast. 6 Insert the HID Xenon into the position that the halogen bulb was in before you removed it. 7 Mount the ballast on the back of the headlight unit using the double-sided adhesive pad provided in the kit.
Volkswagen . How to Dismantle HeadlightsAlthough headlights come in many shapes and sizes, the process for dismantling them is similar. The headlight attaches to a headlight bracket and secured to that bracket with bolts. The headlight unit houses the headlight bulb, which is attached to the electrical system by a wiring harness that runs through the back of the headlight unit. Because this setup is so similar for so many vehicles, the process for dismantling the headlight unit is similar too and shouldn't take you more than an hour to complete. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench set Screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Turn off your vehicle and prop open the hood. 2 Disconnect the wiring harness from the rear of the headlight unit. 3 Remove the bolts from the top of the headlight unit and the rear. 4 Pull the headlight unit off of the headlight bracket. Continue to the next step if it does not come out easily. 5 Remove the central grille abutting the headlight unit if the headlight is stuck. Look for fasteners on top and in front of the grille. Remove these fasteners and pull the grille away from the bumper. Look for any fasteners mounting the headlight to the bumper bracket and remove this. Try removing the headlight again. Continue to the next step if it does not come out easily. 6 Remove the bumper. Remove the fasteners in the wheel well, below the bumper, and on top of the bumper that were revealed when you removed the grille. Have a friend hold the bumper as you take it off its brackets. Look for any more bolts securing the headlight unit that are revealed when you removed the bumper. Remove these bolts and pull the headlight unit off of its bracket. Tips & Warnings Tape around the headlight on the fender, grille, and bumper to prevent scratching the paint while you try to disassemble the headlight unit. Use your screwdriver as a pry if the headlight is stuck. How Much Did A Gallon of gas cost in 1933?
On average it was $.20 a gallon Dodge Charger. * Figure 5-16: A set of points. The way they do this is simple: Attached to the base of the shaft that the rotor sits on is a roundish wheel with bumps on it called a cam wheel. The bumps are called cam lobes, and there is one for each spark plug. As the cam wheel turns on the shaft, each cam lobe contacts the moveable point and pushes the points open. The tiny space created between the open points is called a gap. Each time the points open, electric current passes to the rotor, which directs the current to a particular spark plug wire. This causes that spark plug to "fire," producing a spark that ignites the fuel/air mixture in its cylinder. The points are then brought back to the closed position by a spring. Problems with points The gap between the points must be set at a enough apart to break the circuit, the current precise width to ensure that each spark plug arcs across continuously and the points burn fires at just the right time and intensity. If the gap out quickly. is too wide, the spark plugs fire before the piston This whole problem is referred to as having yourhas reached the top of its path. This can cause points out of adjustment, which leads to poor pre-ignition, which causes knocking and ignition and faulty timing. Thafs why, when you engine damage. This small metal cylinder prevents the electricity from arcing across the gap when the points are open, which would cause the points to burn. Condensers should be replaced periodically, along with the points and rotor. Chapter 12 shows you how to do so. Figure 5-17: A condenser. Other parts found only on electronic distributors Electronic distributors employ electronic parts. The good news is that they tend to be relatively trouble-free. The bad news is that if they break down, you have to pay a professional to replace them. They include the following parts: An ignition module is a transistorized component that triggers the ignition coil to fire high voltage. The module is a "non-wear" component that replaced the old-style "breaker" points in the early to mid-1970s. It is usually found in or around the distributor. Volkswagen .
